ABOUT JAMAICA

Jamaica is the third largest Caribbean island and the largest English speaking Caribbean island with an area of 4,411 square miles (11,420 kilometers). The island's scenery is varied and therein lies its beauty. There are mountainous terrains, beautiful beaches and lush greenery. In fact, the total number of beaches in Jamaica exceeds 226: about 124 fishing beaches, 83 public beaches, 12 commercial beaches and 7 seaside parks.

Our country's motto is "Out Of Many One People" which is so true of the diverse mixture of our population's rich culture. We have an estimated population of 2,600, 000 people. English is the universal language, however most Jamaicans speak "patois" which is an English based local language. The climate is an average of 28 degrees C or 82 degrees Fahrenheit year round.
